
PixNoice is a small creative experiment I’ve been building to explore what happens when images, motion, and sound become part of the same instrument.
At its core, you can drop in an image and transform it through pixel sorting, rearranging pixels according to brightness, color, direction, and other parameters. The results can be animated, distorted, turned into 3D forms, and exported as still images or video.

I also wanted to see what an image might sound like. PixNoice can translate visual information into sound using spectral, granular, and scanline-based techniques. Audio can flow in the other direction too: a microphone or music file can drive visual parameters and generate reactive patterns. It’s still in testing, so I keep discovering new ways to experiment with this connection.

This project has mainly been a space for trying new things. I’ve experimented with the Canvas and Web Audio APIs, WebGL graphics, generative art, reaction-diffusion, audio analysis, and browser-based media exports. Some ideas work beautifully, while others are still rough, and that is part of the point.

PixNoice isn’t meant to be a polished tool yet. It’s a playful audiovisual sketchbook where I can combine unfamiliar technologies, follow unexpected results, and learn by making something strange.
And who knows? Maybe it could become a useful tool for a project or two.
